Launch of the Honorary Consulate

I am delighted to have been appointed Honorary Consul of Romania, being presented formally by Her Excellency Ambassador Laura Popescu to His Majesty the King's representative in Surrey, Lord-Lieutenant Michael More-Molyneux. I am grateful to HM Lord-Lieutenant for his hospitality and kind offer to collaborate further.

It is an honour to represent Romania and its citizens, and to build deeper links within the communities of Surrey and Kent.

We were fortunate to meet later with Professor Max Lu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Surrey, and several of his senior colleagues, enjoying a wide-ranging and thought-provoking discussion which highlighted among other things the strong contribution of Romanian academics and students at the University.

It was also a great pleasure to meet Cllr Saj Hussain, Chair of Surrey County Council, who kindly shared his knowledge of the County and was generous in offering support to deepen ties between Romania and local communities.
